Illustration Friday, 'Poem'

Illustration Friday's topic is "poem" so here is a poem inspired by the story of "Latawnya the Naughty Horse", an amusing anti-drug story I stumbled across tonight. If you haven't seen it you should Google it, it is amusing.
This is literally the first poem I have ever written, so be kind:

"I Had a Friend Who Died"

Part One
The air was slow and thick
the light was bright and red and strange
the grass on the ground was hard like splinters of wood
the rocks on the ground were soft like marshmallows
he didn't even know what marshmallows were
but they were squirming writhing squishing
like the insects under his skin
like the moving earth under his hooves.

Part Two
On the ground, the horse kicked and choked
foaming vomit ran out over his lips and in his eyes it rose
*high*
electric blue and a melancholy shade of fuchsia-gray
rising up to the clouds

like frothy butterflies

butterflies made from horse vomit.



Part Three
"He accidentally took an overdose and died," said Father horse.
"He died scared, hallucinating that his friends were wolves," said Father horse.
"His body swelled in the summer sun, stinking and turning black," said Father horse.
"The flies came," continued Father horse, "sometimes I still hear the buzzing of the flies in my dreams."
"The flies, the flies, the flies, the flies, the flies, the flies, in his eyes, the flies, the flies," said Father horse.

The End


I think this could be part of a much more effective anti-drug book. Even if they replaced only the illustrations in "Latawnya the Naughty Horse" with mine, or only the text, I think the end product would be something that was much better at scaring children away from drugs.

I'm leaving this one open for comments. But don't be too harsh, I scribbled out the picture and the poem tonight in less than an hour, what the hell do you want?
