I came across this, half finished, from over two years ago and decided to finish it. It's the Holiday Pig, one of my favorite seasonal characters from my youth! On the night of the first day of winter, the Holiday Pig goes around to every house, smelling children to see if they were bad that year. If they were very naughty, she'll smell it. She eats all the naughty children, and they become a part of her, doomed forever to live in agony on her back or in her stomach. All the good children are left a fancy sweet- perhaps a pig molded from pink peppermint candy, or a chocolate deer wrapped in foil. I was awake the night she ate my younger brother, Aaron. I can still recall the horrible sounds of his bones crunching between her teeth; and the dreadful wet sound of her breathing. But how delighted me and my older brother, Jonathan, were the next morning when we discovered the tiny gingerbread houses she'd left on our nightstands. I remember picking the gumdrops off the roof one at a time. I saved the little molded sugar pine tree for last... Plus, Jonathan no longer had to share his room. It was truly one of the best winters we ever enjoyed.
A very clever idea. I like how that black border gives a sense of darkness, without having to be entirely black. But I don't like all the faces, though
I don't understand why people seem to think it is morbid. It isn't anymore disturbing than other traditional children's holiday tales, like Father Christmas raping all those holiday elves, or the Slaughter of the Reindeer after the gifts are delivered.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
